In 1935 the Johnson Wax company made an aerial expedition
to Brazil in search of the Carnauba palm tree, the source
of the world’s hardest natural wax. The people of
Brazil refer to this palm as the tree of life because of
its many vital uses. This scene depicts the company’s
Sikorsky S-38 on the red soil of Brazil in the heart of
Carnauba country surrounded by many curious town folk.
