“Flight to Fordlandia”
Price: $95
Giclee on canvas print
Image size: 9 x 14 inches
In 1998 the S. C. Johnson & Son company made a re-enactment
aerial expedition to Brazil, flying an exact replica of the
company’s original 1935 Sikorsky S-38. Shadowing the
S-38 most of the way was the company’s Cessna C-208
Caravan. As part of the flight, the two aircraft flew to
Fordlandia, the old rubber plantation that had once belonged
to the Ford Motor Company.
In this painting, the Caravan and the S-38 circle above
Fordlandia scouting out the best place to make their water
landing upon the Tapajos river.
